# Downloading UMLS Full Model

I’m trying to download the UMLS Full model from here [CogStack/MedCAT: Medical Concept Annotation Tool](https://github.com/CogStack/MedCAT?tab=readme-ov-file). I tried clicking on the link [UMLS Metathesaurus Browser](https://uts.nlm.nih.gov/uts/login?service=https://medcat.rosalind.kcl.ac.uk/auth-callback) and signing in with my UMLS license to download the Full model, but then it would direct me to a 404 page not found error. I’m not sure what the link is supposed to direct me to in order to download the"UMLS Full. \>4MM concepts trained self-supervised on MIMIC-III. v2022AA of UMLS" mentioned on the Github.

Hi.

Unfortunately there are issues that are beyond our immediate control. Here’s my previous post about it:

We have reached out to NIH regarding the change (a few weeks ago), but have not heard back. Given the uncertainties in the US public institutions, we’re not sure if there is anyone in the NIH that’s still willing/able/capable of resolving this issue.

I see, thanks for letting me know. From what I understand, you’re waiting on the NIH’s response, but until then nothing can be done. Can I assume that an announcement will be made if there are any changes that lead to the issue being resolved?

Yes, we are waiting for a response.

Yes, I will post here if / when we get a response.

We will also try to think of other avenues for this. But the problem is with what’s contained in the downloads (e.g UMLS) and our inability to (legally) distribute some of these things without appropriate checks to make sure the downloader has the permission/right to access it.

I’ve deployed a workaround.

You can now use your UMLS API key to validate instead. The link is:
